I wanted to share this adorable book from Hooray Heroes! It’s a personalized book about the adventures of you and your dog. And since Sheila and I are always on an adventure I knew it was just what I needed. It’s such a fun gift for yourself or the dog mom (or dad!) in your life. And because it’s personalized, it’s way more exciting!
You get to design the characters to look like yourself (or whoever you’d like) and your dog or cat!
My niece and nephews love dogs and always ask about Sheila (she usually goes to daycare when I visit because kids scare her) so I thought this would be the perfect gift for them. The oldest is really learning how to read and I figured it would be fun for him to read it to the others.
They know aunt Jojo travels a lot and is a nomad so it’s a way for them to enjoy my (fictional) adventures when I’m not around.
Designing your Hooray Heroes book
Ordering my book was super fun! You get to design the human character (I did the child version of myself) and then you design your dog!
You can choose your eye color, your hair color and style. Even add extra components like glasses and freckles to really make it look like you. My character has curly brown hair, brown eyes, and freckles!
For your dog, there are multiple body types and colors to choose from. No matter what type of dog you have I think you can create a pretty good representation of them.
I do wish they had more design options for the dogs though. Sheila is a kind of a blue merle color and she has one ear that stands up and one where the tip flops a bit. I wasn’t able to find an exact match for her but I do think it’s a pretty good likeness. It’s so cool to see her in cartoon form!
Choosing your adventures
After designing our characters I chose which adventures we’d go on. My nephews are really into space and dinosaurs so I made sure to pick those. They know that Sheila and I camp all the time and travel to various places but they’ve never seen us go back in time and visit dinosaurs!
You can choose up to 10 adventures. Some of the others I loved were playing in a rock band, playing frisbee, and skydiving!
My book arrived quickly and it is amazing! So much cooler than I expected and OMG it’s the cutest thing!
I chose the hardcover and it’s really sturdy and of great quality (perfect for kids that aren’t so gentle). The illustrations are vibrant with beautiful colors. And I don’t know anything about paper but whatever type they use for the pages is fantastic. They’re thick and smooth and even my mom commented on how nice they felt.
I gave them the book when I visited this week and they LOVED it! Immediately the oldest ran to the living room to read it. They loved that Aunt Jojo and Sheila were characters in a book!
I have a fellow dog mom friend that has a birthday coming up and I think this will be such a fun gift to send her. Especially as our dogs age, it’s nice to have little mementos of them, even if it is fictional adventures. 🙂
